A middle aged man, Tuwanse Kabiru serving life sentence in kirikiri, on Saturday graduated with 4,308 students at the 3rd convocation of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), in Lagos.
Kabiru was sentenced to life imprisonment after he was found guilty of m****r. The prisoner who came in company of the prison officials was awarded a Bachelors degree (BA) in Human Resource Management.
Unbelievable: Kirikiri Prisons Life Jail Inmate Earns Bachelor’s Degree
“I want to thank God for what he is doing in my life. I have always had hope in God and that is what inspired me to enroll . I was actually imprisoned after being found guilty of committing m****r and I have served 11 years so far.
I am still hopeful that things will turnaround one day for the better having achieved what I have today,” he said.
The Assistant Controller-General Nigeria Prisons, Chuks Afejue, hailed the courage displayed by the graduating inmate, saying he was the first to enroll and kick start academic activities at the prisons study centre.
According to him, this will prove to people that the prison is not just a dumping ground for those who seem not to have any more hope.
“The prison is a place where reforms and rehabilitation take place. Currently, we have a total of 48 inmates who are enrolled in all the four major prisons study centres across the country.
“It is an exciting exercise and we want to seize this opportunity to plead with the Federal government to try and temper justice with mercy, having achieved this feat. He pleaded on behalf of Tuwanse.
What do you think about this ?
Received this open letter from Nigerian Army email asking Nigerian celebrities to stop using Nigerian Military camouflage in their music videos and concerts.
Read below the Open Letter To Nigerian Celebrities from Nigerian Army.
“This is to inform the general public and most especially Nigerian celebrities to abstain from the use and abuse of the Nigerian Military
camouflage.
Several investigations were carried out and we noticed the camouflage is mostly been used by Nigerian celebrities in music videos, photo-shoots and concerts.
In this same videos and photo sessions, Nigerian celebrities like “Jesse Jags” smoke m*******a while putting on the Nigerian Military
camouflage. This is a shameful act and it will NOT be tolerated henceforth.
Other Celebrities have also been noticed putting on the camouflage at will. They include Iyanya, Wizkid, Davido, Tekno, Chidinma etc.
The military camouflage is not meant for the entertainment industry, It is strictly meant for military personnels.
Henceforth, any civilian found GUILTY of putting on the camouflage irrespective of their social status will be dealt with severely”.
OUR ACTIONS WILL NOT BE QUESTIONED.
Best Regards,
Nigeria Army.

Barca's failure to beat Levante in a 1-1 draw on Sunday has tightened things up even further at the top of La Liga and the Blaugrana could live to regret the dropping of these two big points come the end of the season.

With Real Madrid now only a point behind Barca, Spain's big two could find themselves chasing an Atletico Madrid side for some time if they manage to beat Sevilla in the late game on Sunday.

On only four occasions has a side stopped Barca from winning so far this season, to the names of Osasuna, Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid we can now add that of Levante, who were excellently organised and managed to blunt Barca's attacking instincts and limit their chances.
